| When classification is needed, my art is usually categorized as pop surreal or nomadic. A variety of media makes its way into my hands, including pastels (oil and chalk), soft-lead colored pencils, watercolors, oil and acrylic paint, ink, and scratchboard. Art keeps me alive. I cherish it as one of the greatest things God allows me to do. I thank Him with each piece I create. To define my philosophy of art would negate the need to create art in the first place. My art is an attempt to convey what I cannot otherwise explain. I make art to fill a void; to provide something that is missing. I continuously hope that people will see something in my work that will open a door in their minds, allowing them to make more sense of their own lives. I can only create art because God allows me to. He has given me the needed abilities to bring my visions into a tangible form. It is not a cliché to say that my artistic ability is a gift. In fact, it truly is a gift, and that cannot be overstated. |
